At the beginning of the last century, the new artistic form "modern dance" became established.
This owes much to the dancers of this era. They helped to shape and experience the changes in society. Before that, female ballet dancers were valued as enraptured creatures of the stage, but in reality they often had to earn their living as mistresses. In contrast, the dancers of the modern era had established dance as a serious artistic profession with their strength and initiative.
The "new dance" was still based on movement, but also attempted to portray a sense of life and a world view. Dancers liberated themselves from outdated rules and conventions, sought new content and experimented with new aesthetic possibilities. The female body - in its natural beauty, ugliness and expressiveness - inspired many artists of the time.
In "As Nora on the Pavement", Lara Martelli brings to life images of female dancers by various artists of the time, from Degas to Schiele. The dance icons become Martelli's model as projections by the video artist Andrea Familari. She merges with the images and "liquefies" these forms into an exciting dance round, showing the entire range from simple dancer position to expressive dance ecstasy.

Anfang des letzten Jahrhunderts etablierte sich die neue künstlerische Form „Tanz der Moderne".
Dieser hat den Tänzerinnen dieser Epoche viel zu verdanken. Sie haben den Wandel der Gesellschaft mitgestaltet und miterlebt. Davor waren Balletttänzerinnen als entrückte Bühnengeschöpfe zwar wertgeschätzt worden, mussten aber in der Realität ihren Lebensunterhalt oftmals als Mätressen verdienen. Dagegen hatten die Tänzerinnen der Moderne mit ihrer Kraft und Eigeninitiative den Tanz als ernstzunehmenden künstlerischen Beruf etabliert.
Der „neue Tanz“ basierte immer noch auf Bewegung, versuchte aber auch einen Lebenssinn und ein Weltbild darzustellen. Die Tänzerinnen befreiten sich von überkommenen Regeln und Konventionen, suchten nach neuen Inhalten und experimentierten mit neuen ästhetischen Möglichkeiten. Der weibliche Körper – in seiner natürlichen Schönheit, Hässlichkeit und Ausdrucksstärke – hat viele Künstler dieser Zeit inspiriert.
In „As Nora on the Pavement“ erweckt Lara Martelli Bilder von Tänzerinnen verschiedener Künstler dieser Zeit, von Degas bis Schiele, zu neuem Leben. Die Tanz-Ikonen werden als Projektionen des Videokünstlers Andrea Familari zur Vorlage für Martelli. Sie verschmilzt mit den Bildern und „verflüssigt“ diese Formen zu einem spannungsvollen Tanzreigen, wobei sie die gesamte Bandbreite von einfacher Tänzer-Position bis zur ausdrucksvollen Tanz-Extase zeigt.

La performance é nata sotto commissione di Tanzzeitspielzeit con l ́intento di fare conoscere ad un pubblico di giovani e non solo la professione del danzatore / danzatrice .
Lara Martelli , una dei 10 Coreografi in Residenza allo storico teatro di Podewill a Berlino, ha creato un assolo ispirandosi alle Pioniere della danza moderna che per prime hanno rivoluzionato l idea del corpo e della danza all ́inizio dello scorso secolo.
Compagna in scena assieme a Lara é Siri , una assistente virtuale.
Con l ́aiuto di Siri Lara Martelli traccia un filo rosso conduttore e si muove tra storia e fantascienza. Le domande che sorgono sono : quando e come da un corpo che si rappresenta, si é passati ad un corpo che si " sente " ? Come dall ́estetica del balletto, dalle storie romantiche si e ́arrivati a quello che é oggi la danza contemporanea e la danza dei videoclip tanto amata dai giovani ? La performance é composta con uno sfondo di ironia e con delle chiavi di lettura che possano essere accessibili ad un pubblico di adolescenti e allo stesso tempo interessare anche un pubblico di adulti.
